For those who are new to MODs

Simply put , mods (mod , xm , & s3m files )are a type of music files like wavs or midis. But unlike the ordinary sounding midi files , these files have superior sound quality with ultra cool effects like bass expansion , surround sound etc etc (this however depends on the type of mod player that u use , and also on ur soundcard ). Another big advantage of these files is that they take up very little space . 100 kilobytes or so . Naturally the size is directly proportional to the speech content (lyrics) in these songs . However the mp3 format being more popular , mods of latest numbers are hard to come by .

There are plenty of mod players available for free on the net . Out of these Cubic Player is the one we like the most . It is DOS based , and hassle free . Most importantly its got cool graphics .

We recommend Modplug for Windows buffs . Its quite good in its own class .
